SWIFT, a member-owned co-operative that connects over 9,000 banking organisations, securities institutions and corporate customers across 209 countries, has hired Fishburn Hedges as its UK and corporate communications agency.

Fishburn Hedges will work with SWIFT to raise the profile of the organisation and its business activities, specifically in the UK. The partnership will also involve Fishburn Hedges working in co-operation with SWIFT’s local and regional agencies (including FH’s GFC/net partners Intermarket in the US and Charles Barker in Germany) to raise the co-operative’s profile worldwide. In addition, the agency will support SWIFT’s media relations efforts around SWIFT’s annual event, Sibos, the world’s premier financial services event, which this year will be held in Amsterdam, October 25–29.

Jeremy Cohen, Head of External Communications at SWIFT, said: “Fishburn Hedges impressed us with their knowledge of the financial services industry and ability to provide creative and strategic ideas to raise SWIFT’s profile locally and globally. We very much look forward to working together.”

Commenting on the appointment, Paul Farrow, Director, Fishburn Hedges said: “Over 35 years, SWIFT’s communications platform, products and services have allowed financial institutions and corporates to reduce costs and manage risks more effectively.  Building on that heritage demands an innovative communications strategy, and we’re delighted to be working with SWIFT to help shape and deliver that.”

SWIFT enables its users to exchange automated, standardised financial information securely and reliably, thereby lowering costs, reducing operational risk and eliminating operational inefficiencies. SWIFT also brings the financial community together to work collaboratively to shape market practice, define standards and debate issues of mutual interest. www.swift.com
