The FT is for the second year ganging up with Sightsavers charity to raise money by auctioning lunches with leading FT writers at top restaurants around the world.  You can find details and bid on EBay here.

In the spirit of Friday fun, I thought it worth a quick update on the leaderboard, which you can find below.  I have no idea what we should read into the pulling power of those offering a lunch, and indeed it would probably be career-limiting to do so, but all the journalists represent excellent value and I’m sure bids will keep soaring until the 11th December.

Lucy Kellaway                                       £5100

Gillian Tett (New York)                          £3800

Martin Wolf                                           £1590

Caroline Daniel                                     £1410

Merryn Somerset-Webb                        £1220

Lionel Barber                                        £1131

Jonathan Guthrie                                    £360

Gideon Rachman                                     £520

Tim Harford                                             £500

Philip Stevens                                         £350

Andrew Hill                                              £280

David Pilling (Hong Kong)                        £285

Quentin Peel (Berlin)                               £280

Mrs Moneypenny (aka Heather McGregor) £460

Simon Kuper (Paris)                                £510

Lucia van der Post                                  £281

Matthew Engel                                        £270

All restaurants are in London unless marked.

PS – Why no FT Trading Room or Alphaville – there are plenty of geeks out there who would jump at the chance!
