Politics, policy and the media are my big favourites. I've been listening to the Today Programme since I was 10, and first appeared on it when I was 40. I've advised Chancellors, Ambassadors and city leaders. I'm also an established blogger, commentator and event chair.
I've done 15 years in Whitehall, Westminster and Washington DC. My Treasury phase included two years as private secretary for both Ken Clarke and Gordon Brown's ministerial teams. I've had a go at diplomacy, at the British Embassy in DC. And I've been a policy wonk, running the Centre for Cities think tank. I'm a proven expert across a wide range of policy areas, from infrastructure to financial services. Navigating the Coalition Government is my new challenge, and I'm enjoying it already.
